Define your move

Start with who is moving, when and for how long. A job transfer, university course and family move need different preparation. Give each family member a clear document checklist and timetable.

Build your relocation budget

Separate one-off costs from regular spending. Include flights, temporary accommodation, documents, deposits and setting up a home in the first group. In the second, include rent, education, transport, connectivity and everyday purchases. Keep a reserve for the settling-in period.

Choose a school and home together

If you are moving with children, shortlist suitable schools and ask about places first. Then compare areas and homes against the morning and afternoon journey. A short distance on a map does not guarantee a straightforward school run.

Check your documents

Check the proposed residence route against the UAE government portal and the responsible authority. Keep a document list, expiry dates and the person responsible for each step.
